The AB1 butts are made entirely of high quality unidirectional carbon fibre, 100% structured in layers that give high resistance to impacts and foreseen loads.
The geometry is obtained in a mould with a special autoclave cycle to give maximum performance. The head and tail coupling zones are produced in AL7075 (Aeronautic aluminium alloy) by means of CNC, an alloy that maintains lightness coupled with a mechanical resistance equal to 88 steel. To make the whole body one, structural adhesives are used which, with special baking cycles, guarantee superior resistance to the composite materials. The AL7075 parts are protected by an anodic treatment and nano-ceramic coatings that further enhance the mechanical properties. The carbon parts are protected by a specific painting cycle. These protections make it virtually impervious to marine stress corrosion cracking.
